The Case of the missing Coffee Coolata

June 26, 2017 Andrea

It had been a long day already and it wasn’t even Noon.  I asked Eric to swing by Dunkin Donuts to get an old favorite that I hadn’t had in quite sometime.  A coffee coolata from Dunkin Donuts.  We pulled up to the drive thru, went to order a Coffee Coolata and we were told….THEY NO LONGER MAKE COFFEE COOLATAS.  What? The? But…no worries, as a replacement I could try a frozen coffee…for $3.99.  I thought I was at Dunkin Donuts, not Starbucks!  Hahaha.  Considering I’ve been cutting back on calories neither a Coffee Coolata from Dunkin Donuts or a Frappucino from Starbucks should be on a “must have” list, but there’s those days where you say “you deserve it girl” and when those rare moments arise I do say “heck yes” and treat myself.  So imagine my surprise when I find out that Dunkin Donuts no longer makes Coffee Coolatas.

I’ve been getting Coffee Coolatas since I was old enough to drink coffee.  Instead of a smooth phase out and phase in, it seems like they’ve been replaced with a more expensive drink that “tastes different” as per the drive thru attendant (seemingly overnight since I haven’t had a coffee coolata since last Summer).  So I skipped it, came home, had a regular cup of joe and I survived today.  I probably want one more now then ever because I can’t have one, but I will survive.  Unfortunately it would tempt me enough to get the kids donuts if it meant a Coffee Coolata would accompany it and give me a few moments of quiet bliss while I enjoyed it.  Without that reward, the sugar high and dye fest for my kids no longer seems as tolerable.  I guess less sugar for the family the whole way around the better!

It’s the small things people.  I try not to sweat the small stuff, but I also find pleasure in small things…like a Coffee Coolata.  I’ve been enjoying Coffee Coolatas since they came out in 1994 and there’s certain “staples” that you always expect to be there.  At the end of the day it’s a shame for Dunkin Donuts as I’m sure many loyal customers buying habits will be reflected in the removal of it from the menu.  We will all live another day, but for now take a moment to imagine if some of your favorites were gone…your favorite pizza place, laundry detergent, hand soap, ice cream…so why not splurge today, just incase they also disappear into thin air tomorrow!

March 2020 Stay At Home Fun Guide & Calendar

March 15, 2020 By Andrea

With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) shutting down schools and pretty much everything else, I took the time today to schedule out our kids school week as they will be out of school until at least May 27th.  If the schools are shut down longer then I'll add March 30th and start planning for April. I created a daily schedule(not posted here), a daily calendar of activities that we can follow, as well as a stay at home fun guide to make their time off more "summer camp" like.  Unlike holidays where … [Read More...]

The Perfect Gift For Bakers

December 14, 2017 By Andrea

As of last week we really hadn't done much of any Christmas shopping.  I know.  It's not that we haven't wanted to, but it's a year of minimalism and we've been trying to declutter and finish sorting through boxes in the basement from when we moved in 2 years ago. We both have the want to tackle the clutter and projects, but the list is never ending and when you have 4 kids and run a business there really is no such thing as "free time".  I'm sure you can relate.  As we're doing our shopping … [Read More...]

Personalized Place cards for Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner

December 7, 2017 By Andrea

We hosted Thanksgiving dinner this year and one thing that I definitely wanted to do was create individual place cards.  It's a great way to personalize place settings and avoid confusion as who will to sit where (in our case all the kids wanted to sit next to their Grandparents). I found a simple template online and then printed it on watercolor paper which I had to trim the edges off to be able to fit it into the printer.  The advantages of using watercolor paper is that it is thick enough … [Read More...]

What Do We Tell Our Children When Life Gets Difficult?

July 20, 2017 By Andrea

There's so much good and so much bad in the world it's so often hard to tell them apart. Like most adults I can tell quite a few stories that at the time they were the worst moments of my life. If there's one thing that every human being can relate to it is the constant struggles of life. Then inevitable ups and downs. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. So what do we tell our children? You tell them this: "Please know that we are here for you. ALWAYS. There's never a time of night … [Read More...]
