Just A Tad Obsessed With Decorating Our Front Entry Table

June 29, 2017 Andrea

I hope that when you kids are grown up and look back there’s small things like this entry table that bring a smile to your face. This table is the focal point when you walk in our home, the first thing people see, and although I often snap a photo like the ones below where it’s ‘decorated’, within a day or two the table is full of handmade crafts, art projects, and everything that you kids are so proud to put on display.  Even Dad got in on it with the St. Patrick’s Day decorations, he was so happy to get a turn to put it together.  I love that everyone of you loves to decorate the table as much as I do.  The artwork, crafts and bunches of toys that usually scatter the table are the true reality of our family. For a day, maybe, our house will be clean or our lives in order. Then inevitably life happens and so does the chaos.  But I wouldn’t trade our messy lives for anything else. We’re so blessed to have you all.

When we built our home one thing we knew we wanted (and had the luxury of choosing) was to have an “L” shaped staircase – we didn’t want a straight shot of stairs from the first floor to the second because well, we have kids.  And like most kids ours often run too fast up and down the stairs and less stairs per flight = less injuries.  This has been proven many times in the short amount of time that we’ve lived here. Due to the shape of the stairs a little nook is created as soon as you walk in the front door.  Immediately when I saw that I knew that was where I wanted to place and entry table and mirror.  I love the change of seasons and holidays and the table gives me an excellent excuse to redecorate it often.  Here’s some of the entry table decorations that have been rotated through:

March 2020 Stay At Home Fun Guide & Calendar

March 15, 2020 By Andrea

With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) shutting down schools and pretty much everything else, I took the time today to schedule out our kids school week as they will be out of school until at least May 27th.  If the schools are shut down longer then I'll add March 30th and start planning for April. I created a daily schedule(not posted here), a daily calendar of activities that we can follow, as well as a stay at home fun guide to make their time off more "summer camp" like.  Unlike holidays where … [Read More...]

The Perfect Gift For Bakers

December 14, 2017 By Andrea

As of last week we really hadn't done much of any Christmas shopping.  I know.  It's not that we haven't wanted to, but it's a year of minimalism and we've been trying to declutter and finish sorting through boxes in the basement from when we moved in 2 years ago. We both have the want to tackle the clutter and projects, but the list is never ending and when you have 4 kids and run a business there really is no such thing as "free time".  I'm sure you can relate.  As we're doing our shopping … [Read More...]

Personalized Place cards for Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner

December 7, 2017 By Andrea

We hosted Thanksgiving dinner this year and one thing that I definitely wanted to do was create individual place cards.  It's a great way to personalize place settings and avoid confusion as who will to sit where (in our case all the kids wanted to sit next to their Grandparents). I found a simple template online and then printed it on watercolor paper which I had to trim the edges off to be able to fit it into the printer.  The advantages of using watercolor paper is that it is thick enough … [Read More...]

What Do We Tell Our Children When Life Gets Difficult?

July 20, 2017 By Andrea

There's so much good and so much bad in the world it's so often hard to tell them apart. Like most adults I can tell quite a few stories that at the time they were the worst moments of my life. If there's one thing that every human being can relate to it is the constant struggles of life. Then inevitable ups and downs. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. So what do we tell our children? You tell them this: "Please know that we are here for you. ALWAYS. There's never a time of night … [Read More...]
